1852 Highspire Map
This is the oldest map we have of Highspire. It shows individual buildings and gives the names of property owners. The Highspire boundaries on this map are approximately the same as laid out by Berentz and Dochterman in 1814. This map is taken from a large map of Lower Swatara Township by McCarthy and Arrott. Only two copies are know to survive. The annotation FOR SALE BY.... does not appear on the printed map. The map dimensions are 12 in. X 16 in.

1858 Highspire Map
This map is similar to the 1852 map, but there are a number of name changes and a few new properties. It shows individual buildings and gives the names of property owners. The Highspire boundaries on this map are approximately the same as laid out by Berentz and Dochterman in 1814. This map is taken from a large map of Dauphin County in the Library of Congress. The annotation FOR SALE BY.... does not appear on the printed map. The map dimensions are 12 in. X 16 in.

1873 Bird's Eye View
Bird's Eye View illustrations were very popular in the late 19th Century. This Highspire version was made when the Lumber Street area was the location of several industrial operations shown on this drawing. It also shows the first extensions of the village along Penn Street, and the High and Locust/Market Street area east of Lumber. The key identifies 31 numbered businesses, churches and schools. The dimensions are 17 in. X 21 in.

This image is an overlay of the Fall 1898 Camp Meade Occupied Map on a Sep. 10, 2017 Google Earth image. It shows the location of regimental, headquarters, and support unit camp locations on the Google Earth image. The annotation FOR SALE BY.... does not appear on the printed map. 1852 Middletown Map
This map of Middletown, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania is a cut from a large map of Lower Swatara Township by McCarthy and Arrott. Only two copies are known to survive. It is unique in that it shows buildings and the names of the property owners in 1852. The annotation FOR SALE BY....does not appear on the actual high resolution image. The dimensions are 12 in. X 18 in. It is printed on smooth white 65 lb. cover stock.

1852 Portsmouth Map
In 1809, George Fisher, son of the founder of Middletown, laid out an area at the junction of the Swatara Creek and Susquehanna River and called it Harborton. Sometime between 1809 and 1814, the name was changed to Portsmouth and was known as such until March, 9 1857, when the area was consolidated with Middletown. This map of Portsmouth is a cut from a large map of Lower Swatara Township by McCarthy and Arrott. Only two copies are known to survive.
